Settings Menu

Use the settings menu to access the various setting options: Number Display Format, Fraction Display Precision, and Decimal Display Precision, as well as Help and About

Number Entry

Enter numbers the way you want. For feet and inch numbers, use a combination of feet and / or inches: 1′ 1″, or 1’1 1/2″, or 1’1.5″, or 1.5′, or 1 1/2′, or 1/2″, or .5″ – they all work equally well.For scalar numbers (numbers without a unit), enter them as you would on any other calculator 123.1, or .1, or 1, or even 1 1/2 if you wish.Regardless of how you enter a number, the number will be displayed in the correct number format you’ve chosen.

Number display format

Choose the format in which you want feet and inch, and scalar numbers displayed. No matter how you chose to have numbers displayed, the entire precision of the number is maintained. This setting continues until you change it using the setting menu.For feet and inch numbers, your choices range from whole-feet, to feet and fractional feet, to feet and decimal inches. For fractions, the fraction is reduced to their lowest common denominator. However, this reduction is to standard inch type fractions – that is 1/2 or 1/4 or 1/16, etc.For scalar numbers, you can decide between fractional numbers and decimal numbers

Display Zero Feet: this only applies to feet and inch numbers.
Checked: when a feet and inches number has zero feet, the zero feet will be displayed.
Un-checked: when a feet and inch number has zero feet, the zero feet will not be displayed.

Fraction Display Precision

Choose the level of precision in which you want fractional numbers displayed. Your choices range from whole numbers to 1/256. This choice applies to fractional scalar numbers and fractional feet / fractional feet-inch numbers. This setting continues until you change it using the setting menu.

Decimal Display Precision

Choose the level of precision that you want decimal numbers displayed. Your choices range from whole numbers to a maximum of eight decimal places. In addition, the first choice is a general precision – this will display however many decimal places make sense for the number with a maximum of eight decimal places. In other words, 1/4 inch will display as 0.25″ and 1/1000″ will display as 0.0001″ This setting continues until you change it using the setting menu.

Number Display

This is where numbers are entered and where the result of a calculation is displayed.
Clicking the number display will show the Temporary Setting dialog box. This allows you to change how the current number is displayed.

Status Display

This is where various status messages are displayed. In particular, error messages will be displayed when invalid information is entered or invalid calculations are attempted (divide by zero, for example). Clicking the status box will display additional information when it is available.

History Display

This is where previous calculations are displayed

Keyboard Keys

Key	Description
Bksp	Backspace – this allows you to delete the right most number or symbol
CE/CA	Press this once to clear the current number being entered. Click this twice, and the entire calculation is cleared.
Prev	Restores the answer to the previous calculation. Note that, if you are in the process of entering a number, this will replace the number you are entering
‘	A foot mark
“	An inch mark
└┘	The space between anything and a fraction
/	The separation between the numerator and denominator of a fraction
±	Changes the sign of the current number
MS	Saves the current number to memory
MR	Restores the number saved in memory. Note that, if you are in the process of entering a number, this will replace the number you are entering
π	The value of Pi
Int	Provides the integer portion of the current number
Frac	Provides the fraction portion of the current number
Sin	Calculates the sine of the current number. Use a long press for Sin⁻¹ (inverse sine)
Cos	Calculates the cosine of the current number. Use a long press for Cos⁻¹ (inverse cosine)
Tan	Calculates the tangent of the current number. Use a long press for Tan⁻¹ (inverse tangent)
